JOB OVERVIEW
Taylor Structural Engineers is currently seeking a full-time, experienced and technically proficient Senior Structural Project Engineer to lead the structural design and engineering phases of our construction projects. Our Senior Project Engineers are seen as technical leaders within our team of engineers. They work closely with other industry leaders on innovative and challenging design projects. This position is a long-term career path for highly skilled/technical engineers, or a building block for those looking to grow into TSE’s business development leadership track.
In this role, you will report directly to the firm’s principals and may work alongside or in relationship with TSE Associates and Project Managers on a project basis to design, plan and oversee the building phases of large structures. Successful candidates will have an opportunity to work on all aspects of building structural design on a variety of project types including commercial, institutional, multi-family residential and industrial and will be expected to solve design problems, possess an in-depth knowledge and application of building codes, and comprehend that getting the job completed means participating and beginning to oversee the delivery of high-quality work, while being mindful of clients’ time and budget constraints.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all aspects of structural engineering design for assigned projects under the direction/support of a firm principal.
Revit (BIM) modeling of structural design.
Interface Revit (BIM) modeling with engineering software (Tekla Structural Designer).
Perform advanced structural analysis and design for various materials, including steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
Follow company standards for BIM content and development procedures.
Use expertise to review and interpret technical documents from other consultants.
Review shop Drawings for compliance with construction contract documents.
Conduct site visits and structural observations for work in progress.
Issue field instructions, respond to RFI’s, and other Construction Administration Documentation.
Prepare engineering reports based on visual inspections and review of the available building drawings.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes and industry standards
Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, architects, and contractors.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Experience: Minimum of 6-10 years of progressive structural engineering experience in the A/E/C industry
Software: Strong working knowledge of structural analysis and modeling software, such as AutoCad and Revit.
Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
Other: Well-versed in seismic design/structural design utilizing steel, concrete, wood, light gage steel, and masonry, Interest in developing leadership, business development, and management experience and has experience and/or understanding with project coordination/management.
