ST. CLAIR HOSPITAL AMBULATORY CARE CENTER

Construction on St. Clair Hospital’s new ambulatory care center has proceeded well in spite of recent pandemic restrictions. TSE is proud to be part of the design team, led by IKM Architecture, for the 270,000-square-foot hospital addition.

The addition is a 6-story structure with a mechanical mezzanine level between Floors 5 and 6 and is designed for a future one-story vertical expansion. The lower three levels house utility and facility maintenance space and include two stories of below-grade parking. The upper levels include a large Operating Room level and MRI Scan, CT Scan, Nuclear Medicine, Radiography, and other medical procedure rooms.

The structure is steel-framed with a combination of cast-in-place concrete and masonry basement walls at the lower three levels. Cast-in-place concrete floor slabs were used for the lower levels, and concrete slab-on-deck construction was used for the upper levels. The perimeter wall construction for the upper levels incorporates masonry veneer, architectural metal panel, curtain wall, and storefront construction. A combination of temporary and permanent site retaining walls was required to construct the building up to 30 feet below grade on a tight construction site.

PJ Dick is the general contractor for the project.
